The Liberation Trail committee has an EDUCATION focus.
Their efforts to exhibit things of importance has always been met with
praise and astonishment. The nature of their focus goes through research
attainment procedures and has the final touch of care and concern added
to it.
This
mix has generated real support and a growing following to the festival.
Last year the sub-theme of Protest and & Change featured
a Photograph Presentation of the Ernest Withers Collection, a
Multimedia Presentation showcased by Prentice Hall, an African American
History Book Display, Local African American History book Makers, a
Mini Black Museum, Oratorical competition hosted by BIG- (Blacks In
Government), Storytelling, Local History facts and Voter
Registration activity.
This year the Liberation Committee will present exhibits
that will feature Military involvement.
Exhibits
will include Medal of Honor Recipients, USS Cole exhibit,
USS Wisconsin information, along with a high school oratorical Contest
again hosted by BIG-(Blacks in Government), a Civil War
Reenactment and more information.
We will have law students on hand to distribute and
assist with Voter Registration information. So Visit the
Liberation Trail and be informed as well as entertained.
